Parking Lot for Geeks

October25

Last night, at the Mall of Asia parking lot, I we noticed something unusual, and cool. The parking lot is now equipped with a sensor system that displays a red color if the space is occupied and green if otherwise. I think the device is designed with a infrared line that if an object blocks the infrared light, the device sends a signal to the LED to display the corresponding status color.

Aside from the convenience of efficiently finding a space for your vehicle, I assume that the devices also gives out a counter signal that also gives the number of vacant spaces for the whole parking level or building. :)

On the other hand, I think I saw this research design proposal a year ago somewhere in Mapua. heheheheheh.

nope, there are devices for each of the car lots in the parking spaces.

the two devices are attached at the ceiling. the first is situated at the center of the lot, probably the one that contains the infrared sensor, and the LED is attached at the further end of the lot.

kinda looked a lot like more christmas. hehe. :)

Naiimagine ko yung sensor na ginamit nila, katulad dun sa sensor na ginagamit nila sa mga CR na panlalake wahaha >:)

hmmm.. IR Sensors?? hahaha.. most likely. It consumes less power and easier to design than with sonic sensors.
Kinda cool gimmick in the parking lot. wait a minute, are they using that on the outdoor parking or the indoor? (Haven’t been to MOA for quite a while)
Hope it get’s implemented in other malls as well hahaha.. well i doubt they’ll do it in other malls. After all, it’s somewhat not feasible for not-so-big malls. But maybe the Galleria, Megamall, & Trinoma’s indoor parking could use that technology.. they have many customer’s and the indoor parking there can be quite a hassle..right?
